How to take care of a Pool.

Regular Filter Maintenance

Check the pressure gauge of the filter and write down the date and pressure the filter was at.

Chemicals and Pools?

There are 3 chlorine dispensers floating around the  pool that take 3 inch chlorine tablets that are in the bucket in the storage box. Make sure these are always filled to the top. They typically last about 1 week so check them once a week.

The pool typically needs to be shocked at least ONCE a week.

If it Rains the pools needs to be Shocked.

Pool water should be tested every 2 weeks at Lesiles Pool store on Orchard Lake at 13 Mile road. They will test the water for Chlorine, PH, Hardness and many other things.

Water evaporates from the pool so you need to make sure there is 1 tile worth of water above the bottom of the skimmer.

Shock the POOL

  1. There is a 5 gallon bucket of powder chlorine in the storage box which a blue measuring cup.

  2. Open this bucket sometime can be difficult to open.

  3. Take 2 full scoops of the powder chlorine and put it in the pool.

  4. You should walk around the pool to make sure each area gets the proper amount.

If the filter is above 25 you will need to BACKWASH the filter

  1. Turn the filter off.

  2. Turn the knob directly below the pressure gauge from FILTER to BACKWASH.

  3. Make sure the hose from the filter is extended.

  4. Turn the filtered back on and the filter will discharge through the hose on the grass.

  5. Look at the glass ball to the right of the filter knob.

  6. Keep backwashing the filter until the water going through the glass ball is clear and CLEAN.

  7. After it is clear and clean turn the filter off.

  8. Turn the FILTER KNOB from BACKWASH to FILTER (180 Degree turn)

  9. Open the filter basket that is at the FILTER and empty it of any type of leaves or trash.

  10. Empty the filter basket at the SKIMMER in the pool and empty it of any types of leaves or trash.

  11. Take the bag of EARTH over to the SKIMMER.

  12. Turn the filter back on and walk over to the skimmer.

  13. You have to put 5 full coffee cans of EARTH into the skimmer with in 5 minutes of turning the filter back on or you could DAMAGE the filter.

  14. Check the water line in the pool to make sure it is at least 1 tile above the bottom of the skimmer in the pool.

Robot Instructions

NEVER run the robot without the FILTER ON

  1. Before you turn the robot on go through this check list.

  2. Turn off the Robot pump.

  3. Turn off the filter.

  4. Take the Robot out of the pool.

  5. Remove the filter bag connected to the robot and check the bag for junk or holes in the bag.

  6. Empty any junk from the filter bag and clean it.

  7. Put the bag back on the robot.

  8. Lower the robot back in the pool and make sure the line is not tangled.

  9. Turn the FILTER back on.

  10. To enable the robot you can turn the top switch at the filter upward and this will enable the pump to move the robot.

Robot Troubleshooting

Q: Is the Robot Stuck?

A: If the robot is stuck in the pool you can turn off the robot pump and filter and try to get him unstuck. Often he will get stuck on the stairs and the ladder in the deep end.

Q: Robot is not moving in the pool he is just sitting there.

A: Is the filter above 25 on the pressure gauge? If so Backwash it. If that is not it turn the robot pump off and filter off. Check all the skimmers to make sure they are not full. If they are fine remove the ROBOT hose from the pool wall and inside of that you will find a SMALL tiny filter. If this has any stuff inside of it clean it VERY good because this is probably the reason the robot is not working.

Q: Robot is not picking up any dirt.

A: Check the filter bag on the robot to make sure the Velcro is CLOSED and there is NO holes in the bag.

How to Close the pool:

#1
Remove all peripherals like diving boards stairs slides and lights.

#2
Back wash until the level of the water is below the return fittings on the
side of the pool. You need to remember to close the skimmer valves when the
water level drops below them and leave closed.

#3
Plug all the return lines to the pool(not the main drain or skimmers).

#4
Turn off the MAIN drain valve from the bottom of the pool.

#5
Build up air pressure in filter and blow out the lines in this order: Main
drain first (remember to blow it out a few times and then shut the valve
while there is still air going through it, this will create a vacuum not
allowing water back in to the main drain). Then the skimmers by opening
valves (after blown out pour anti freeze down each skimmer at pool side and
plug them leaving valves shut). Then the return lines starting with the
return furthest from the pump, by building up pressure then removing the
plugs at poolside, when empty back fill these lines with anti-freeze at
pool side and plug. Then the heater and last the backwash line.

#6
Pour pool/rv anti Freeze into pump and filter.

#7
Fill pool until water level is just below the skimmers.

#8
Cover pool with winter cover and weight it down.

You better get 6 gallons of anti-freeze the first time so you have enough.

How to Open the pool:

  1. Take a pump to remove the water off the top of the cover.

  2. Remove the cover from the pool.

  3. Remove all the outlets on the pool from the winterization.

  4. Put the Pool outlets on the pool with new PVC Pipe tape.

  5. Remember to remove the stopper in the bottom of the skimmer.

  6. There is a stopper that goes in the bottom of the filter.

  7. Reattach the pressure gauge on top of the filter.

  8. Reattach the white drain plug to the shut off value coming from the skimmer.

  9. Check to make sure the PVC line going to the pool from the filter is connected. Their is a hose clamp that needs to be put on and tighted.

  10. Fill the water up one tile above the bottom of the skimmer.

  11. Open the shutoff values from the deep end and skimmer basket at the filter.

  12. Fill the filter basket at the filter up with water and turn on the filter.

  13. If it doest start to pull water into the filter repeat previous step a couple times. This is called PRIMING the FILTER.

  14. After the filter starts running make sure you add new EARTH to the FILTER.

  15. Typically some of the junk from the cover goes in the pool so I recommend using the regular vacuum to remove the sand and dirt in the pool instead of the robot.

  16. After you get done opening the pool take your water to Lelises Pool Center above to have it tested. To see what chemicals you need to add to the filter.
